Ginger Ninja

August 1, 2026

A stealth runner. Rooftops, shadows, a ninja who is supposed to vanish between the lanterns. You have seen this silhouette a thousand times. Then the hair shows up.

Ginger Ninja keeps the dash, the jump, the throwing stars, and the hostile rooftops. The rude question is simpler: what if the stealth kit came with a bright mop of ginger that every enemy can see from across the skyline?

What you already know

Run. Jump. Clear barrels. Throw stars at rival ninjas before they close the gap. The loop is a side-scrolling runner with just enough platforming to keep your feet honest and just enough combat to keep your hands busy.

Scrap Heap Games does not invent a new genre here. The comfort of recognition is the launchpad. You sit down thinking stealth. That is when the twist lands on your head.

The twist: hair that betrays you

Classic ninja fantasy sells invisibility. Black cloth, quiet feet, a silhouette that melts into the night. Ginger Ninja starts from that promise and then refuses to hide the one thing that will not cooperate: a loud, bright mop of hair.

Stealth is still the job. The hair is the reason the job keeps going wrong.

Enemies do not need a spotlight. They have a beacon. That ginger crown pulls attention the way a caution stripe pulls a forklift. You are not failing at stealth because you forgot the move set. You are failing because the universe can see you coming.

It is a thin twist, and we know it. Thin is allowed on the heap. The one-line test still holds: a stealthy ninja, except the hair keeps giving the game away.

How a run works

Arrow keys move. Space jumps. Stars fly when you need a lane cleared. Rival purple ninjas close in, barrels roll through, rooftops and trampolines ask for timing. Survive long enough and the pace climbs. Post a name if the scoreboard still has room for you.

The tension is not “can I stay unseen forever.” It is “can I keep moving when every rooftop already knows who I am.”

Why this one belongs on the heap

Like Chaos Pong and Save the Invaders, Ginger Ninja passes the one-line test: familiar frame, one rule bent until the fantasy feels different. Here the bent rule is visibility itself, worn on top of the head.

If you want a quick rooftop session that still rewards nerve and timing, play it here. Bring a name for the leaderboard. And do not blame the shadows when the mop lights you up.
